💸 Americans Spend $500 Annually on Tipping

Americans are spending nearly $500 annually in tips, reluctantly succumbing to what's dubbed "tipflation." A survey by Talker Research reveals the average person shells out $37.80 monthly in gratuity, feeling pressured by tipping options. This equates to $453.60 yearly, with 26% admitting to tipping more than desired. Additionally, 31% have been asked to tip for services they wouldn't normally consider tipping.

🌍 Americans' Cheap Overseas Vacations Hurt U.S. Economy 

Americans are rushing to take advantage of cheap vacations abroad due to the strong dollar  post-pandemic by flocking to Europe. However, this exacerbates over-tourism concerns. According to officials, more than 35,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since the conflict began in October. Guterres emphasizes, "A ceasefire will only be the start." He warns that "it will be a long road back from the devastation and trauma of this war."

Russian President Putin has nominated civilian economist Andrei Belousov to succeed Sergei Shoigu as defense minister suggesting dissatisfaction with Ukraine's handling. Sergei Shoigu, defense minister since 2012, now heads Russia’s security council, replaced by Andrei Belousov, a deputy prime minister and economic adviser. Dmitry Peskov emphasized aligning security spending with economic dynamics, stating, “This demands special attention.”

OpenAI's upcoming multimodal AI assistant may introduce sarcasm detection, potentially enhancing automated customer service interactions. Alongside recognizing objects and images, it will comprehend audio and improve logical reasoning, serving as a tutor, providing contextual information, and even assisting with translations or troubleshooting. 

🍏 Apple close to adding ChatGPT from OpenAI to iPhone

Apple Inc. is nearing a deal with OpenAI to integrate its technology into the iPhone, as part of efforts to enhance AI capabilities on its devices. The agreement involves incorporating ChatGPT features into iOS 18, the forthcoming iPhone operating system. Additionally, Apple has engaged in discussions with Google's Alphabet Inc. for licensing its Gemini chatbot, though no agreement has been reached yet.

🎭 Steve Buscemi Assaulted in Manhattan

Actor Steve Buscemi was randomly assaulted in Manhattan's Kips Bay neighborhood. The 66-year-old was punched in the face by an unidentified individual, sustaining injuries to his left eye. Buscemi "is ok and appreciates everyone's well wishes, He was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.  The suspect was seen wearing a dark baseball cap and blue t-shirt. 

🌟 Oscars launch fundraising as Awards audience dwindles.

The Oscars launched Academy100, a $500 million fundraising drive for their centenary in 2028. CEO Bill Kramer stresses the need for sustainable support, stating, "The Academy will soon enter its second century, and we want to ensure that we continue to be the preeminent leader of our international film community," while Sponsors have already pledged over $100 million. 

🏀 Atlanta Hawks Secure Top Pick in 2024 NBA Draft

The Atlanta Hawks wins the 2024 NBA Draft Lottery, held at Chicago's McCormick Place Convention Center. Despite mere 3% odds and a 10th-place finish in the Eastern Conference, the Hawks secured the top pick for the draft, scheduled for June 26 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. General manager Landry Fields expressed both surprise and excitement stated, "It was a shock."

🏆 Switzerland's Nemo Triumphs at Eurovision 2024!

Switzerland's Nemo won Eurovision 2024 with the captivating opera-dance performance "The Code." Despite a mishap involving the trophy post-victory, Nemo captivated both the public and the jury by balancing on a precarious metal disc. Nemo remarked, "I didn't just break The Code, I also broke the trophy, I also broke my thumb... But I got a new one - I technically have two now. I'm really grateful for this whole experience."

🔥 62% of Parents Report Burnout

A recent survey by The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center found that 62% of parents experience burnout from their parental responsibilities. This burnout leads many caretakers to self-isolate, as they don’t feel like they have the energy to maintain relationships outside their family. Two out of three parents say the demands of parenthood sometimes or frequently make them feel lonely, according to the survey.  

🚨 Trump vows deportation of student protesters if elected 

Former US President Donald Trump pledges to confront student protests on university campuses regarding Israel's actions in Gaza, vowing to prevent what he sees as the infiltration of "violent radicals." He promises at a New Jersey rally stating, "If you come here from another country, trying to bring jihadism or anti-Americanism or anti-Semitism to our campuses, we will immediately deport you. You will be out of that soon."
