📈 September US PCE Inflation Rises as Expected

The Fed’s preferred inflation measure, the U.S. PCE price index, rose 0.2% in September as expected, after August’s 0.1% gain. PCE inflation was 2.1% yearly, the lowest since 2021, with core PCE up 0.3%. Analysts anticipate a 25 basis-point rate cut in November, but a pause in December. Chief economist Peter Cardillo stated, "The Fed may very well pause."

📈 US Consumer Spending Surges in September

U.S. consumer spending rose 0.5% in September, above the 0.4% forecast, supporting a 2.8% GDP growth rate in Q3. Driven by a strong job market and asset gains, the increase follows August’s revised 0.3% gain. Lower inflation eased the pressure, though spending favors higher-income households. Analysts stated, "Consumer resilience remains key to growth."
