Global public debt is projected to exceed $100 trillion by the end of this year, according to the IMF. This increase is primarily driven by significant borrowing from the US and China during the COVID-19 pandemic. The IMF warns that over half of global debt is vulnerable to further increases, urging, “Countries should confront debt risks now.”

According to the New York Fed, U.S. consumers expect long-term inflation to rise, with forecasts at 2.7% in three years and 2.9% in five years. Fed Governor Christopher Waller stated, “Monetary policy should proceed with more caution.”

October’s full Moon, known as the Hunter’s Moon, will rise on Thursday, October 17, at 7:26 a.m. EDT, becoming the brightest Supermoon of the year due to its proximity to Earth. Although it will be below the horizon at that time, the Moon will appear full from Tuesday evening through Friday morning. NASA’s Gordon Johnston stated, “This is the third of four consecutive Supermoons.”
