Chinese authorities have banned PwC China for six months and fined them Rmb441mn ($62mn) for concealing audit fraud linked to Evergrande, a collapsed property developer. The firm approved accounts despite Evergrande inflating revenues by $80bn before defaulting in 2021. PwC’s Guangzhou branch has been ordered to shut down. PwC stated, “The audit work fell unacceptably below the standards we expect.”
