🚫 US Calls for Halt on Arms Supplies to Sudan, Cites Genocide Risk

The U.S. has called on nations arming Sudan's factions to cease, highlighting imminent risks of genocide in Darfur, reminiscent of past atrocities. Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield emphasized the urgency in an emergency U.N. meeting, warning of potential mass killings in El Fasher and a worsening crisis, with millions at risk of famine. She stressed, "An attack on El Fasher would be a disaster on top of a disaster."   

🔍 Congress Warns ICC Against Issuing Israeli Arrest Warrants

The International Criminal Court's potential arrest warrants for Israeli officials have sparked a backlash from U.S. Congress members across party lines. They are preparing retaliatory legislation, according to Axios. House Speaker Mike Johnson described the warrants as "disgraceful" and "lawless," warning they could set a precedent affecting American leaders. Johnson urged the Biden administration to firmly oppose the ICC’s actions.

Iraq's Parliament has amended a 1988 anti-prostitution law to criminalize homosexuality and punish those promoting "sexual deviancy" with harsh penalties. The revision imposes 10-15 years' jail for same-sex relations and bans organizations advocating LGBTQ+ rights. U.S. State Department Matthew Miller criticized the move, warning it "threatens those most at risk in Iraqi society" and could damage Iraq's economic prospects.

In 2023, Google defended the Play Store by blocking 2.28 million malicious apps and suspending 333,000 developer accounts for policy violations. Using SAFE principles, Google enhanced SDK privacy and ensured VPN apps passed independent security reviews. Additionally, Play Protect detected five million new harmful apps.

A Pew Research study reveals 51% of Americans support government regulation of social media, down from 56% in 2021 post-Capitol Riots, this is due to misinformation and platform influence on democracy. People increasingly distrust platforms to self-regulate effectively, favoring government intervention to ensure a balanced and accountable approach to content moderation.
